Becky and Kyle
Becky and Kyle celebrated a snowy spring wedding on Saturday in Beaver Creek. It couldn’t have been more romantic! Becky and Kyle have been living in separate parts of the country for months. I can only imagine that it was a lonely stretch of time—but their winter was officially over on Saturday and Kyle and Becky are together forever now—and moving to New York! I can’t think of a better metaphor from God, than melting snow and green leaves and yellow daffodils popping up from under. The winter is over and spring has begun. Let it grow!
Becky is pretty much the cutest thing ever! She didn’t stop smiling and giggling all day! She certainly wasn’t one of those brides who is sultry, so doing edgy non-smiling photos of the two of them would have been a joke! Becky and Kyle are full of joy and life—and I love all the smiles!
…I stand corrected. Becky didn’t smile all day– there were a few moving tears during the ceremony that melted everybody’s heart.
Margie and David
Between Margie and David and their artistic spirits, and Heather Clark’s (Calluna Events) impeccable taste, this may have been one of the coolest weddings I have ever had the honor of photographing. It was a storybook event held out at a private residence off of Jay road in Boulder. There were goats, pigs, floating orchids and salsa dancing. The day was a reunion of old friends and family, celebrating the truly epic love story of Margie and David (and Davids beautiful daughter Kaya). I don’t want to taint Margie and David’s story with my poor writing, but I will say that it will be one of those love stories that I will be talking about in 20 years. Thank you so much, Margie and David for choosing me to document your love. I wish you all the best….
Check out the floating orchids around the trellis—totally rad!
One of my favorite aspects of this wedding, was that Margie and David had only children as their attendants. 7 little girls on Margie’s side including Kaya, David’s daughter, and 2 strapping young lads. I’m pretty sure that all these little girls felt like this was as much their day, as it was Margie’s!
On top of the 7 little bridesmaids, there were another 4 beautiful flowergirls, making this quite the girl’s party of 12! And boy, did they have a blast!
This photo is one of my favorites from the day. Look at the love in the faces of this threesome!
Did I mention that Margie is a riot?!
The landscape of this Boulder wedding was so stunning, that I wanted to camp in this tent after everybody left…. seriously!
Margie and David even created their own wedding wine—with a label of love by Kaya.
Bree and Ryan eloped!
Bree and Ryan eloped at City Park on Friday! It may not have had all the bells and whistles, but their ceremony didn’t lack beauty and emotion…. it was just as heartfelt and tender as it would have been in front of 150 people. There were tears, laughter and even a couple of witnesses (including Pepper the dog).
Congratulations Bree and Ryan—it was a honor to be present at such a sweet wedding…
Bree brought Carrie—who cried just like every maid of honor should….
….and Ryan brought his best friend and member to the family, Pepper!
It was a gorgeous spring day—-I love this picture because it really depicts the season, with all the greens and colorful blossoms.
Andrea and Duane
Andrea and Duane are engaged! And they finally did their engagement portraits!!! Andrea and I have been looking forward to this shoot for almost a year. She has loyally checked out about every post on my blog and collected her favorite images ( I think she may have become one of my biggest fans). And I have become one of hers! I adore these two! They are the real deal. They really love each other and there is such a maturity to their relationship—like soul mates.
We met at my studio where Andrea had her makeup done and then we had some time to kill before the rockies game, so we meandered around my hood in Potter’s highlands. It was perfect for the edgy stuff that Andrea and Duane were looking for. We then headed over to the game—it was an awesome shoot! I had so much fun! Anyone catch the score??
There really is this amazing chemistry between Andrea and Duane that is so easy to capture….
Check out the legs on the lady! Wow!

This is a pretty funny sequence…. I was trying to get Andrea and Duane kissing amongst the crowd at the Rockies game, but what ended up happening was even better. These kids were so mesmerized by the camera (they must have thought I was the news) that they didn’t even notice Andrea and Duane and bumped right into them! I loved it! Andrea and Duane just kept on kissing….
Courtney and Mark are engaged!
Ahhhhh…. love in the springtime! I felt twitterpated just being around Mark and Courtney, who are so clearly in love and ecstatic to be together. We started the day at Protos pizza, one of their favorite spots for eats, and then headed over to riverside park where Mark not only took Courtney on their first date, but where he also proposed! It was a perfect spring day to be in love—from playing in the water to laying in the new, plush green grass. Thank you Courtney and Mark for making my job so fun and and easy! You were a riot to work with!
I’m not sure if it was because it was like 70 degrees out or what, but people were coming out of the woodwork and getting in the water at riverfront park! I don’t think I’ve seen a site like this since September! It was great! I loved all the little people in the background of this shot.
Will you just look at the sheer joy on these two faces?
As similar as these are, I had to post all three of these next images because they all evoke a completely different emotion and side to Courtney and Mark…. I think the last sepia toned one is my favorite, or wait maybe the one where they are looking at the camera…. or… well, you get the point!
I wanted to send this along to all you artists out there who may be interested in participating in a very cool thing. My friend Amber has started Decree apparel www.decreeapparel.com a hip and socially-conscious t-shirt line for women and kids, and is looking for artists to help create designs for the new collection. Through affirming and inspirational designs on the apparel, Decree declares the inherent worth of human beings; aiming to build self-esteem so, in freedom, individuals can pursue the plan designed for their life. Decree is dedicated to not only to building self-esteem through words, but giving back to the community and world-at-large through consistent financial donations to various organizations. Decree also plans to build business opportunities in poverty-stricken countries by pursuing production opportunities in those communities. So get out there all you creative people and get an entry in! If I had a creative bone in my body (aside from the whole photography thing, of course) I would totally submit something. In fact, maybe I still will! Winning submissions will be eligible to be printed on t-shirts. Artists of winning designs will be eligible to be featured in the Decree Apparel product catalog, which I will most likely be shooting product for….
Here’s what Decree is seeking: modern and stylish designs for specific “decrees” (slogans). Designs must incorporate the slogan and capture the spirit and significance of the concept. The slogans are positive messages, which aim to combat the overwhelming amount of negative messages we receive about ourselves, through various media, on a daily basis. In order to maintain the confidentiality of the new collection we’re asking that you contact us so we can give you the full explanation of the design concepts and slogans. Please email your request for slogans to decrees@decreeapparel.com and include your full name in your email. Please attach the completed/signed Confidentiality Agreement form to your email. Download the form below.
Designs should be for women (ages 18-25) and children (3 yrs – 7 yrs)

Ilene and Ali (non-bridal)
I had the pleasure of working with Ilene and Ali yesterday at the Sanctuary in Castle Pines. This was not an elopement…. Ilene called me and asked if I would re-shoot her wedding pictures. They had hired a friend to shoot their wedding back in August and didn’t have any formals that they were happy with. And while this isn’t usually my thing ( I generally like to be documenting, the “real deal” with all the emotions and hoopla) , there was something about Ilene’s voice in her inquiry that made me really excited to do this non-bridal for them. I’m so happy that I took this job! I had so much fun with these two, and despite the fact that these images weren’t done on their “wedding day”, the shoot certainly didn’t lack emotion… Ilene and Ali are very much in love and it was a blast documenting them in a more relaxed way. They seemed to have a lot of fun together while doing the shoot and I hope that I was able to capture the love and playfulness that exists in their relationship. Congratulations, Ilene and Ali (much belated)!
Ummm…. hello! Ilene is gorgeous! I really think she should model—in fact, if she weren’t moving to Dubai, I’d be calling her for some of my personal “edge” shoots!
This last shot was really fun! We had pretty much done all those “formals” that they needed, so I told them to just “pose” for me—do what they wanted! This is what Ali came up with, and I loved it! So natural and adorable!
Krista and Greg got married!
It’s a pity that I didn’t get to spend more time with Krista and Greg. We met for the first time on Saturday, but I know that I would have loved to have formed a relationship with them over this last year of wedding planning, had they been here in Colorado. Krista is a cute bubbly girl who just beams from ear to ear and seems to burst into giggle at just the right moment, and Greg is a dapper, sensitive guy who clearly adores his new bride. This was one of those weddings where I didn’t have to do much…. I just let them go in a field at Chautauqua and just snapped away. The wedding was a perfect mix of both worlds with the ceremony held at The cathedral of immaculate conception on Colfax and the reception at the Rembrandt Yard in Boulder. We also sprinkled in some time at Chautauqua park for some fun “Colorado” images.
Jessica, the sweet little flower girl screamed her way down the aisle. It was really cute actually—she is right at that age where she doesn’t want to leave mommy’s side, and her mommy happened to walk down right before her. Bless her little heart!
I adored Kara, Krista’s maid of honor. She was a ball of emotions all day—and such a tenderheart!
I love this image…. there is something so sober about it.
I’m generally not much of a “detail” photographer, but I couldn’t get enough of the yummy blues and oranges at Krista and Greg’s reception. Everything was so springy and fresh—from the fruit and veggi arrangements to the gorgeous (and tasty) blueberry martinis… Did I mention that my favorite flowers happen to be orange tulips?
I always find it sort of funny when the entire bridal party is introduced before the bride and groom into the reception. But wow! This party really put on a show as they entered . I was loving it!
Krista and Greg didn’t need to put on a show—they were the show. Aren’t they stunning?!
This may have been one of the best getaways that I’ve yet to witness! Krista’s sister, Karen pulled up in a pedicab and took the couple away—in a uniform and all! It was a perfect and fun way to end the day.
Katie and Geoff engagement shoot
I knew I liked Katie the minute she walked through my door last fall in her cute little shoes…. she was so bright eyed and excited about her engagement to Geoff….
Today, I got to meet Geoff and I couldn’t be more thrilled about working with these two! They have so much fun with each other and couldn’t be a better fit. (Although Geoff is a good foot taller than Katie)!
We started out our shoot bowling at lucky strike and ended up in a parking garage…. It was so much fun!

We basically ran out of light and ended up in a parking garage because that was the only place I could find enough ambient light to really shoot anything of interest. We seriously spent like an hour in there! It was great! Have I mentioned how much I love my D3??? I took all these these shots at 12500 ISO without a flash!
Katie and Chris are engaged!
I spent double the time that I normally do in engagement sessions with this couple yesterday—-I just couldn’t let them go! They are such a hot couple! I dragged them all over the place… first to commons park, and then because I decided that I’ve seen way to much of that park lately, I ended up taking them over to five points. Good times! It was pretty cold out, but Katie and Chris were troopers and despite the weather, I hope they had a good time. I know I did— I loved working with their faces!
We really lucked out with this amazing ominous sky! I love this image because it looks as though they are running from a storm.
Five points is great for shooting with all the distressed wood and old warehouses….
… and then we stumbled upon this old pickup truck and decided to snap a few shots with it. I can’t believe it was open! We probably broke the law for these next two shots, but oh well—the lengths we go to for art!
This might be my favorite shot of the day. I don’t know why, but I couldn’t stop coming back to it. It’s just so edgy and non-narcissistic….
